Grading Scale for 30 Questions

Percent and letter grade for every score on a 30-question test.

On a 30-question test, each question is worth about 3.33 points. This chart uses a standard plus/minus scale (A- at 90%, B- at 80%, C- at 70% and D- at 60%), so "an A" here means A- or better. Students need 27 right for an A, 24 for a B, 21 for a C and 18 for a D. They can miss 3 questions and still get an A, or 6 and still get a B.

  • A27+ rightA- or better
  • B24+ rightB- or better
  • C21+ rightC- or better
  • D18+ rightD- or better

At a glance

  • Every exact grade on the scale, from A down to F with each plus and minus, has a score that earns it.
  • Of the 31 possible scores, 4 scores earn an A, 3 a B, 3 a C, 3 a D and 18 an F.
  • The lowest score that isn't an F is 18 right (60%), a D-.
  • Percentages are rounded to the nearest whole number, so 29 out of 30 shows as 97%.
